Internet Marketer - Perfectionism Can Lead To Your Downfall
You just have to start. Everyone starts somewhere, so don't worry about where you are now. There can be magic in the beginning of every project. Just start.
How to kill perfectionism
Are you a procrastinator masquerading as a perfectionist? Perfectionists are often just really procrastinators. You usually cannot find one without finding the other. We keep waiting until we find the perfect time, or the perfect method, because of fear of failure. We are not sure we can really do it, and so look for any excuse to avoid action. Some part of us hopes that there is a perfect, magic bullet that will make it a sure thing if we wait.
Think about whether you hesitate when it comes to something you know that you're good at. When we excel at an activity, we jump right in. If the activity is something that plays to our strengths, there is no reluctance to start. To overcome your hesitation, you first need to acknowledge your fears and face them openly. Then you can dispel them as you take bold, massive action toward your dreams.
How to beat perfectionism - Give it a knockout punch.
Letting go of perfectionism can be difficult. What you need is a goal that is too big to give up on. Once you have a goal you really want to achieve and are motivated to work toward, you can stop perfectionism and start moving forward.
Consider what you would do if I asked you to walk on a high wire 20 feet in the air with no safety net. You probably wouldn't do it. But if your child was in danger and walking on that same high wire was the only way to save them, you would. You don't need to be perfect to take action. You just need to have something important that you want to achieve.
Beating perfectionism
Don't put off starting your business because you don't have all the answers. It's ok not to know everything when you start, but you need to get started. Napoleon Hill, author of "Think and Grow Rich", said, "Don't wait. The time will never be just right."
You must start with the tools at hand. As you require them, more tools will be made available to you. I understand that you might be a little fearful as you approach starting your own internet business. That's understandable. You are stepping out of your comfort zone, but don't let perfectionism stop you from accomplishing your goals.
Consider the skilled professionals we rely on: the doctor, the surgeon, the car mechanic, plumbers, and electricians. None of them were born with their skills, and all had to go through a nervous apprenticeship where they had to learn by doing. Because they put aside their fears and invested years in study and experience, they are now the experts you turn to.
Examine your passions. What do you truly want to achieve in your lifetime? That may be just the place for you to begin your new business. Of course it is usually beneficial to have a record of achievement in some area - in academics, in athletics, in service to others, or in the arts - because that indicates that you have a history of discipline towards reaching your goals. But you definitely don't need to be an expert business person before you start to grow your business.
This is the point where I can help you. I can give you the guidance and tools so that instead of procrastinating, you can get moving now toward business success. Never forget: perfectionism is the enemy of all you hope to accomplish.
