Because of the fact that green buildings are now much in demand it is important to pass the LEED Certification exam which will help to measure the 'green' factor in a building. LEED or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design is the system that measures the 'green' factor in different buildings.
Therefore if you are interested in designing or construction a LEED certified home or building you will need to pass the LEED AP examination so as to gain accreditation by the USGBC or the US Green Building Council.
In order to prepare for LEED Certification it is necessary that you go over the USGBC LEED Reference Guide which is a voluminous book comprising of four hundred pages. However, unless you become familiar with the content of this guide book you will not be able to pass the LEED AP examination.
What's more, you must be careful to understand the different standards and codes referenced in the guide and you should also know how best to apply different formulae that are provided in this guide book.
Next, you must learn credits because the entire LEED system depends on knowing the different series of credits which are worth between 1 and 10 points apiece. This means learning to calculate whether specific scenarios will help in earning specific number of credits; so, it means memorizing various formulae as well.
The USGBC website has various credit templates that you must learn about because much of the LEED AP exam involves filling out the different credit templates and also knowing who is to be held responsible for each template and you must also be sure about the kind of documentation that is to be included. This information is readily available with the USGBC site though finding the information requires searching different parts of the website.
You must also be sure about the way that the LEED process will be administered and this can only be understood by studying different subjects of which Credit Interpretation Rules is a good example.
Finally, you must also try finishing practice tests without which you will not succeed in passing the LEED Certification. These tests help you determine your level of preparedness. However, even if you fail one LEED test you can take the test again.
