Most of conventional packaging materials are dangerous to the environment. Polystyrene is the most dangerous thing that is commonly used. Damaging material that comes next is the funny bubble wrap. It takes resources and is not easily degraded. However, we still have a lot of options for packaging materials.

Shredded paper: In the hands of creative people, waste paper can be formed into wonderful packaging objects. You might use junk mail, newspapers, and any kind of paper you find near you. The individuals who receive your parcel will have the option to reuse, throw away the paper into recycle bin, or maybe compost it.

Popcorn: This is one of the most popular packaging materials to the mail order corporations. It is widely used nowadays due to its cheap price and its biodegradability. Popcorns are made from organic ingredients, and one important thing that must not be forgotten when you are making pop corn is that salt, butter, and sugar cause popcorn to be sticky.

Reused packaging: It is always possible for you to accept parcels from people who are not quite care about the environment. When you receive parcels from them, save it. You might use it for future purposes when you want to send parcels. Do not forget to tell your friends, neighbors, and family about it, especially when they intend to send many parcels. In many occasions, reuse is better than recycle, particularly when the package is still in a good condition. Let's take an example: a padded envelope. You can actually use this so many times before it has to be recycled.

Straw: This is actually an old renewable material. It has the same function and beauty as some modern materials have. Furthermore, it is biodegradable and also cheap. You can compost it after you use it, pretty much like paper. But if you possess herbivore animals like horses or rabbits, give used straw to the since straw is one of their favorite snacks.

Cardboard: Compared to straw, cardboard is tidier though both of them have the same function. Cardboard can be recycled, reused, or even composted if you like. Cardboard like cereal packets, old box, or trays can be easily found in your house. You can also use cardboard for packing materials in many ways, for example you can cut it or fold it. If you could not find enough cardboard in your house, go to shops or supermarkets and ask for old boxes.

Commercial green packaging: Today, if you care about the environment, you can start using super eco-friendly materials to package your parcels instead of polystyrene. Green packaging peanuts or shaped foam maybe cost you a little more, but it really help saving our earth.

It is easy to replace the habit of using damaging materials to safer materials. It sometimes even enables you to save your money. But if it cost you more, it is still worth well considering the effects to our earth. Moreover, if you have a small company, using green materials will absolutely give good image that eventually lead to an increase in sales.

Be friendly to your environment. Always reuse or recycle the containers of the products you buy. Many kinds of containers can be reused as household tools, packaging materials for gift, handicrafts, and so on. Never let those containers endanger our surrounding woods, lands, or oceans.

Buy food products in a big amount so that you can avoid wasting packages. Try to use items with 'recycled' symbol or you can obtain products that are packaged in recycled materials.
