Feeling the warmth of a tiled bathroom with radiant floor heating running through it, can start your day in a nice positive way. This is one reason to consider radiant heating. No one likes stepping on a cold tile floor, first thing in the morning. Another very good consideration is the economical factor, the initial purchase cost being much less then conventional baseboard.

Residential applications have increased for this product dramatically. There is also an even higher demand today, for commercial and industrial applications. The industry has had an explosion in the past ten years. Many new applications are being used. Snow melting for driveways, walkways and patios has become common.

Manufacturers have stepped up their research and developed new innovative products to fill the consumer demand. Adding new products and bringing new ideas to the market. Problems with earlier types of material, dealt with breakdowns and pipe failures. These problems have been solved and have become a thing of the past. As with any new product, it takes some time to get the bugs out. Early types of piping turned out to have endurance issues and broke down during use in a relatively short time. These problems have been dealt with by the industry and alternative materials have been given great reviews for longevity.

Radiant floor heating has several advantages over traditional radiation like baseboard and radiators. First of all and probably the driving factor when this type of heating was invented, is the fact that we don't see it. The whole operation is completely invisible. Just under the floor but remaining out of mind and out of sight, the system works quietly and efficiently to warm our homes.

Using convection, which is the natural physical property of heat rising, the radiant heating system evenly warms the air of the room it's designed to heat. The tubing is installed below tile, or under hardwood. Concrete floors are poured over the tubing which is previously installed where needed and as designed. Hot water from a boiler is circulated through the tubing, this in turn, heats the floor.

Radiant heating will tie into a water boiler in the same way as most conventional radiation. Saving money on some valves and pumps you may already have installed is never a bad thing. These systems are definitely compatible with a lot of other types of hot water heating. They use a lot of the same parts so make sure you ask if some of this can be used again.

Some of the other places to consider installing radiant may be kitchens and dining rooms. Tile floors are great for this application. Any room can use radiant heating including rooms with hardwood floors and carpeting. Concrete floors are installed with the radiant tubing poured right in the floor. This heats the concrete which in turn heats the air above it.

After researching all the types of heating available, most will find, this type of heating has many benefits the others lack. Getting an even heat and a quiet heat while the whole thing is invisible, are some innovations we get with radiant floor heating.
