On page search engine optimization is another way of getting the search engines to see your page as more appealing while maintaining your objectives. Keep reading if you want to learn more about effective use of on-page SEO on your website.

As of the latest algorithm change by Google, they make no bones about indicating they want to rank sites with a lot of great content to offer. There are only good things when it comes to excellent authority sites, and they are favored by Google in the SERPS. There is no magic or rocket science involved, but there are other things like hard work and persistence which many people lack.

A lot of things will influence search engine rankings, but generally speaking a large site optimized properly has an advantage. Google also has taken the age of a site into consideration for a long time. Generally speaking, an older site has a definite advantage, but there are always exceptions. One thing lots of people do is acquire a domain name that is older.

Another thing to do, to please Google, is externally linking to highly related sites that have trust rank. If you link to bad neighborhoods then the search engines will obviously get the wrong impression about your site. It is pretty easy to find high quality sites to link to, so just take the time to do it right. You never want to have a high number of external sites you link to. The best way to deal with this is to link to a site only when you think it's absolutely necessary. Also, ensure that all the external links on your website are valid and working. This is a situation when automation is important because it will free-up your time. Also, you do not want to accidentally hurt your SEO efforts due to a broken link.

Most marketers recommend to avoid using hyphens in the URL because it has been seen that search engines usually favor websites that don't have hyphens in their URL. However, if you do feel the need for having hyphens, by all means do so, as it's better than having connectors such as "and". But again, limit these hyphens to one or two; anything more than that is not healthy.

You will find that on-page SEO is a great deal easier than off-page, so the time spent on it is high value time.
