Countless millions of pounds have been spend by the video games and film industries in a bid to demonstrate what it would be like to experience driving the World's finest supercars through the streets of the Globe's most stylish cities. Games like Project Gotham Racing and the Need For Speed series,and movies like Gone in 60 Seconds,all showcase the irresistible combaination of beautiful cars speeding through stunning locations.
So there's been a quite understandable stir caused by a recent video,which has been doing the rounds of the internet, of a Porsche 911 GT3 and a Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera going head to heaad on thea streets of Paris,apparently in real traffic.Of course,the traffic is only apparently real and the video is just as highly produced and edited as anything that Hollywood might turn out,but this staged event from the team at stuntattitude.fr is about as close to the real deal as you're ever likely to see.
The two supercars are driven by trained professionals Nicolas Navarro and Julien Piguet.In the video,dubbed "The Ring Race",the two stunt drivers are pitted against each other in a semi-controlled environment.Racing on the Parisian boulevards at night,the white GT3 and the (inevitably) orange Gallardo look absolutely awesome as headlights and streetlamps accentuate the sheen of every surface of these incredible machines.As they are locked in what really does look like an authentic duel,they ease past other,more pedestrian,traffic.This is all about making fast cars look pretty darn cool, and it does the job very nicely.
Naturally,much as the video might increase your desire to own one of these cars it doesn't get you any closer to being able to afford one.You'd be lucky to get behind the wheel of your own new Porsche GT3 for much less than £90,000 while a brand new Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera will set you back around £150,000: eye-watering stuff.
Fortunately, you don't need to risk a prison sentence for robbing a bank (or the ignominy of becoming a hedge fund manager) in order to put one of these cars through its paces.If the Ring Race video has whetted your appetite for some supercar action,why not try out a Lamborghini driving experience at the legendary Silverstone circuit – home of British Motorsport. With experiences starting from just £120,you can really unleash the power of the 5 litre V10. Who knows – you might even show those Parisian chaps a thing or two!
